artist residencies

Chiang Mai is a vibrant hub of artistic culture set in a tropical paradise. During our residency months, temperatures range from 20°C to 32°C (70°F to 90°F) under sunny skies.

The city’s international airport ensures convenient travel for artists arriving from almost anywhere in the world.

While with us, you'll have the chance to expand your artistic practice, draw inspiration from golden temples, savor world-renowned cuisine, and discover why Thailand is celebrated as "The Land of Smiles."

Housing

A bedroom with white tiled floors, a bed with white linens, and a towel folded on it. There is a wooden desk with a small TV, a potted plant, and a mini fridge. A sliding glass door leads to a balcony with a view of the city.

Directly behind the studio is a modern apartment complex. You will be roomed in a comfortable studio apartment with a balcony, private bathroom, desk, wardrobe, and small fridge.

Partners and children are welcome, unfortunately the building does not allow pets.

Equipment

A cluttered creative workspace with shelves of art supplies, a whiteboard, books, and a foosball table, in a room with beige concrete floors and white walls.

Our residency is equipped with a lithography press (56 x 76 cm) and an etching press (80 x 120 cm). We can produce and print editions of stone and plate lithography, relief prints, as well as drypoint etchings and monotypes.

Adjacent to the studio is an exhibition space (85 square meters). Residents are welcome to propose events in this space.

Materials

A person wearing a striped shirt and a white cap is signing a large, illustrated map or poster on a table. The background shows framed artwork on a wall.

Included in your residency is the use of a reasonable amount of paper, plates, stones, and ink. You do not need to bring anything but you are welcome to bring ongoing projects with you.

Master Printer

You will work one-on-one with our master printer, Tim Pauszek, MFA as much or as little as you like during working hours. He can assist you in producing your edition or teach you about the printmaking technique of your choosing.

Cost

People gathered around a table observing and documenting an art piece, with artworks hanging on the wall behind them.

All of this is included in the residency fee of $1,500 USD per week, with discounted rates available for residencies of three weeks or longer.

A woman with long blonde hair and extensive black tattoos on her arms is standing in an art gallery, gesturing as if explaining something. She is wearing a black and white striped sleeveless top and black pants. Behind her, there is a large piece of artwork with black abstract figures and various swirling lines on a light-colored background, framed in wood.
